Are the number plates accepted by every vehicle registration office in Germany?
Yes, without exception. Our vehicle number plates are embossed on highly reflective aluminium blanks in accordance with DIN 74069 (the German industrial standard for registration plates), are certified by the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) and DIN CERTCO, and carry the mandatory security watermark. They are approved nationwide at all 414 vehicle registration offices and for online registration (i-Kfz).
How does the search with the question mark (“?”) as a wildcard work?
You can enter one or more question marks (“?”) in the letter or number field if you want to leave certain positions open – for example “AB ???” for your initials with any number, or “?? 777” for a repeated-digit number. Our live checker queries the available combinations in real time.
When and how do I receive my official reservation confirmation (PIN)?
Once your order is complete, your chosen custom plate is reserved in the name of the specified vehicle keeper at the competent vehicle registration office. As soon as the reservation has been recorded, we send you your official reservation PIN or confirmation by e-mail.
What happens if my custom plate has been taken in the meantime?
Should a combination unexpectedly already be assigned at the moment the authority books it, you will automatically receive a personal selection link by e-mail. There you can choose an available alternative plate with a single click, free of charge and without any surcharge, before your plates are embossed.
Which official fees are charged additionally on site (GebOSt)?
Under the German fee schedule for road traffic measures (GebOSt, fee no. 221), the nationally uniform administrative fee of the vehicle registration office amounts to €10.20 for the custom plate plus €2.60 for the advance reservation (€12.80 in total). In almost all districts, this fee is only charged later by the authority directly at the time of vehicle registration.
How quickly are my embossed plates delivered?
Orders completed on working days by 18:00 are embossed on the same working day once the reservation has been made and are shipped via DHL. The standard transit time within Germany is 1 to 2 working days.
Which size and quantity apply to motorcycle plates?
For motorcycles, the law prescribes exactly 1 two-line number plate for the rear of the vehicle in the size 180×200 mm (or 200×200 mm or 220×200 mm). If you select “Motorcycle” in the configurator, our system automatically sets 1 plate in the appropriate two-line size.
